Dairy Innovation Awards Finalists Announced – 1 September  

The month began with excitement as the finalists for the 2025 IDF Dairy Innovation Awards were revealed. These awards celebrate groundbreaking solutions in sustainability, nutrition, and dairy technology. Winners will be announced on 21 October during the Summit in Santiago.

Farmers’ Roundtable & AMR Bulletin Launch – 3 September  

A global farmers’ roundtable addressed the importance of water quantity and quality for animal health and milk production. On the same day, IDF launched the Guide to Prudent Use of Antimicrobial Agents in Dairy Production 2.0, developed with technical support from the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH).Efficient milking parlours designed to maximize cow comfort, streamline operations, and boost dairy productivity.

Webinar on Dairy’s Role in Sustainable Food Systems – 8 September  

Moderated by Katie Brown, this webinar explored the role of dairy in sustainable food systems, focusing on nutrient adequacy, bioavailability, and environmental impact. Experts Lora Iannotti, Stephan Peters, and Adam Drewnowski shared insights on dairy’s essential contribution to global diets.

Climate Week NYC – 24 September  

During Climate Week NYC, IDF participated in sessions emphasizing diverse solutions for climate action, from regenerative farming to biodiversity investments.

Highlights included panels with experts from PepsiCo, ofi, OCP AFRICA, Novonesis, and Nuveen Green Capital.

In the Global Dairy Platform (GDP) side event, leaders like Appolinaire Djikeng, Mario Herrero, and Charlotte Rutherford discussed how dairy supports nutrition, climate-smart agriculture, and rural livelihoods.

Global Engagement & Sustainability – 25 September  

At the IFCN Dairy Research Network Conference in Graz, Austria, IDF President Gilles Froment emphasized making sustainability profitable while strengthening the global dairy knowledge ecosystem.

On the same day, IDF participated in the UN High-Level Meeting on NCDs & Mental Health, showcasing dairy’s role in preventing non-communicable diseases, supporting mental health, and promoting equity through nutrition and school milk programs.

FAO Global Conference on Sustainable Livestock – 29 September  

The month closed with preparations for the FAO 2025 Global Conference on Sustainable Livestock Transformation in Rome (29 September–1 October). The event brings together stakeholders to balance food security, rural livelihoods, animal health, climate action, and biodiversity.
